As a Seattle family photographer, I’m often asking: What are some of the things you value the most? For many, it’s the candid moments captured during family photos, whether by yourself, or a professional family photographer.
A photograph is powerful. Very few objects hold the ability to flood our minds and hearts with such strong emotions, like a photo of your child.
The color of a baby’s eyes may change a few times before settling to their final hue. One day you’ll look back upon a certain photo and remember just when you realized the final color of her beautiful eyes.
With one family photo, you can remember how she used to giggle if you whispered in her ear.
For at least a short while, she was small enough to fit on your hip.
…and so tiny you could hold her hands to help her jump in the air!
One day she will outgrow her mommy’s lap…
…but she will never outgrow her mommy’s heart.

As a Seattle family photographer, I aim to create photos out of real moments just like the ones you’ll see below. Lifestyle sessions are a great way to ensure your family is comfortable, and enjoys the process.
This sweet Seattle family contacted me to photograph their little family inside their absolutely adorable tiny yellow home. Freddy had just celebrated 7 months earth-side, so perfect timing! He was so smiley, playful, and full of hugs and affection. We had a blast, and captured some truly special moments that this family will always cherish.

As a Seattle maternity photographer, I get to meet so many beautiful people. Melissa invited me into their lovely vintage-styled home to help photograph their final days as a Family of 3.
Miss Hadley, aka Big Sister, had the biggest smile, an infectious laugh, and a mighty desire to move move move–as every nearly-2 year old should. Toddlers are the absolute best part of this job. I need more of Hadley in my life. This job, as a family photographer in Seattle, is made sweeter for getting to meet little people like her!
During any lifestyle photography session, the goal is to tell the story of a real family in their real home. That means games with the kids, reading books, show and tell, and even snack time! There’s no pressure to act a certain way, or stand still and say “cheese.” Silly, energetic children can let their REAL smiles shine when the cameras are brought to them!
The vintage decor, and light shining through the windows made this session and photos simply effortless. I’m considering hiring Melissa to come personally decorate my own home.
Stay tuned for more photos of this family of FOUR once I’ve met their new addition for newborn photos!

As an Issaquah Family Photographer, I am often contacted to provide party or event photography, and I squeal a bit on the inside when it happens. These events are more fun and exciting than a trip to the carnival! I love my work as a Seattle event photographer.
This sweet little boy had a traditional Korean “Dol” that was such an honor to witness. It was held in the waterfront Woodmark Hotel in Kirkland, WA, which provided for some beautiful views of the water.
Prior to his grand party, we had a sweet and calm lifestyle family session in their Issaquah family home. There’s no better way to unleash the personality of these sweet little people, than when they’re having fun with their very own toys!

As a Kirkland family photographer, cheeky 3 year olds and babies are simply my favorite subjects. It’s really hard to narrow it down, with all the other beautiful subjects I photograph, but there’s something about their funny personalities that make each and every session pure FUN! This lovely crew joined me for their family photo session in Kirkland, WA over at Juanita Bay Park. It’s a lovely location, and definitely a beloved favorite.
Abby & Jack brought their lovely parents along with them (hello, toddlers can’t drive!) to their session, and we had a blast. The flowers were in bloom, the sun was shining, and a deer joined us, too!

Sunshine, green grass, happy toddler, beautiful family. What more could I ask for? This summer has been filled with more rainy days than I can remember in the last 5 years in the beautiful North West, but it’s made me treasure these sweet summer days.
The Matote family might look a bit different from the outside, but I can’t describe how amazing it was to meet them and witness their love for each other.
Through a personal project, I met the lovely Love and her family while documenting Adoption Family Stories. Here is their story:
We are George, Love and Isaac. Our family came together through adoption after 10 LONG years of infertility. I knew I was meant to be a Mom, and I couldn’t fathom why God would put that desire so deeply in my heart if he wasn’t going to fulfill the promise.
About the same amount of money most people would spend on a new car, we spent on medical testing and fertility treatments, and still no kids. To our surprise, fertility testing revealed my husband had cancer! When we heard the “c” word, all thoughts about children flew out the window. We focused on surgery, treatment and healing. Hubby is well and has been cancer free for over 5 years. Thank you God!
At first, my hubby was not open to the idea of adoption. But after the long and winding journey we were on, I asked him about adoption again. It turns out he had been listening to a radio station featuring adoption stories for a whole month. God had been working on his heart through that radio station, and I didn’t have to say a word.
Our son Isaac came into our family in April 2013. We met him at the hospital when he was 2 days old. We met his birth mom and dad for about half an hour, and they chose us to be his forever family.
We thank God every day for the gift of Isaac, the gift of family. And we hope to add to our family again this year through adoption.

As a Seattle newborn photographer, I feel contentment deep within my soul when meeting brand new babies. Lifestyle newborn sessions are a wonderful way to capture life with this tiny bundle. Being able to capture so many real-life moments, as they happen, is a treat. The more I continue on this journey, the more I realize how much more impacting a shot can be when captured in the moment. Real life shines through sessions like these, and each one is solidly unique to your own family. The interactions you see happened right before my eyes, with each moment being true to life.
There’s no timeline that must be kept to–no 14 day deadline. This sweet baby was 2 months old when I met her for the first time in her family’s beautiful Seattle home. Harper was a doll to photograph–her eyes followed my every turn. She was expressive, happy, and all too adorable.
As a Seattle family photographer, it is my delight to present these types of sessions as a new and exciting way to capture the new addition to your family.

Being an Issaquah family photographer is such a blessing. It’s such a beautiful area, and filled with stunning places for family photos.
Where would you be the most comfortable for a family photo session? Is there a particular place that showcases your family and it’s dynamic personality? When planning a family photo session with clients in the Seattle, WA areas, so often we head to the great outdoors. This is never a bad or wrong choice. The results are simply beautiful, and I enjoy these sessions and their outcomes very much, as do my clients. This year, I’m offering a new approach.
Have you considered having an in-home lifestyle family session? The photos you see below is just one example of a gorgeous and fun experience I had with a beautiful couple and their handsome (and so sweet) twin 2 year old boys, in their very own home. Thank goodness we chose this route, because this particular day was one of the worst wind storms of this year.
As you can see below, a lifestyle session allows for so much more versatility. Your children are more comfortable in their own environment, and are more likely to show genuine smiles while showing me their favorite book (sharks!) We laughed, we cuddled, we spoke softly, and we played. Pure, genuine love simply shines through the photos from this session.
