As a Kirkland family photographer, cheeky 3 year olds and babies are simply my favorite subjects. It’s really hard to narrow it down, with all the other beautiful subjects I photograph, but there’s something about their funny personalities that make each and every session pure FUN! This lovely crew joined me for their family photo session in Kirkland, WA over at Juanita Bay Park. It’s a lovely location, and definitely a beloved favorite.
Abby & Jack brought their lovely parents along with them (hello, toddlers can’t drive!) to their session, and we had a blast. The flowers were in bloom, the sun was shining, and a deer joined us, too!

Sunshine, green grass, happy toddler, beautiful family. What more could I ask for? This summer has been filled with more rainy days than I can remember in the last 5 years in the beautiful North West, but it’s made me treasure these sweet summer days.
The Matote family might look a bit different from the outside, but I can’t describe how amazing it was to meet them and witness their love for each other.
Through a personal project, I met the lovely Love and her family while documenting Adoption Family Stories. Here is their story:
We are George, Love and Isaac. Our family came together through adoption after 10 LONG years of infertility. I knew I was meant to be a Mom, and I couldn’t fathom why God would put that desire so deeply in my heart if he wasn’t going to fulfill the promise.
About the same amount of money most people would spend on a new car, we spent on medical testing and fertility treatments, and still no kids. To our surprise, fertility testing revealed my husband had cancer! When we heard the “c” word, all thoughts about children flew out the window. We focused on surgery, treatment and healing. Hubby is well and has been cancer free for over 5 years. Thank you God!
At first, my hubby was not open to the idea of adoption. But after the long and winding journey we were on, I asked him about adoption again. It turns out he had been listening to a radio station featuring adoption stories for a whole month. God had been working on his heart through that radio station, and I didn’t have to say a word.
Our son Isaac came into our family in April 2013. We met him at the hospital when he was 2 days old. We met his birth mom and dad for about half an hour, and they chose us to be his forever family.
We thank God every day for the gift of Isaac, the gift of family. And we hope to add to our family again this year through adoption.

As a Seattle newborn photographer, I feel contentment deep within my soul when meeting brand new babies. Lifestyle newborn sessions are a wonderful way to capture life with this tiny bundle. Being able to capture so many real-life moments, as they happen, is a treat. The more I continue on this journey, the more I realize how much more impacting a shot can be when captured in the moment. Real life shines through sessions like these, and each one is solidly unique to your own family. The interactions you see happened right before my eyes, with each moment being true to life.
There’s no timeline that must be kept to–no 14 day deadline. This sweet baby was 2 months old when I met her for the first time in her family’s beautiful Seattle home. Harper was a doll to photograph–her eyes followed my every turn. She was expressive, happy, and all too adorable.
As a Seattle family photographer, it is my delight to present these types of sessions as a new and exciting way to capture the new addition to your family.

Being an Issaquah family photographer is such a blessing. It’s such a beautiful area, and filled with stunning places for family photos.
Where would you be the most comfortable for a family photo session? Is there a particular place that showcases your family and it’s dynamic personality? When planning a family photo session with clients in the Seattle, WA areas, so often we head to the great outdoors. This is never a bad or wrong choice. The results are simply beautiful, and I enjoy these sessions and their outcomes very much, as do my clients. This year, I’m offering a new approach.
Have you considered having an in-home lifestyle family session? The photos you see below is just one example of a gorgeous and fun experience I had with a beautiful couple and their handsome (and so sweet) twin 2 year old boys, in their very own home. Thank goodness we chose this route, because this particular day was one of the worst wind storms of this year.
As you can see below, a lifestyle session allows for so much more versatility. Your children are more comfortable in their own environment, and are more likely to show genuine smiles while showing me their favorite book (sharks!) We laughed, we cuddled, we spoke softly, and we played. Pure, genuine love simply shines through the photos from this session.

As a Seattle birth photographer, I can honestly say that birth photography is all about the story. We capture so many moments and feelings, from fear, to excitement, nervousness, elation, worry, and love. My job is to capture all these small details. Details that you would otherwise have forgotten, or missed entirely. When you and your spouse/significant other are focused on the laboring and birthing process, I will be there to ensure that the small moments are captured. As a fly on the wall, I carefully plan each photo, waiting for the perfect time to click the shutter. Your baby’s first photos will be clear and in focus–dad’s hands will likely be shaking from the emotions flooding through him. Often there are things you would have liked to be photographed, but in the blur of post-birth happenings, so many moments become missed opportunities for photos.
A few months ago, I had the extreme honor and pleasure to witness the birth of Nova–a beautiful, long awaited and desired, SURPRISE baby girl! Up until the very end, we were wondering if this sweet baby would be a He or a She. Look carefully in one of the photos, and you will notice a clue. As soon as I saw this detail, I knew I had to include it in this mother’s birth story.

I am spoiled, as a Seattle maternity photographer, with the gorgeous scenery of our picturesque state. Venturing a bit farther than my usual area, I drove to Snohomish, WA to meet this lovely lady at McCollum Park–something I try to do with every client. The park provided to us a beautiful woodland backdrop for her maternity photo session. We took a walk along the trails and got to know one another a bit, and left with warm smiles.
Beautiful, soft spoken, and with a wonderful smile, I quickly felt like Lindsey and I were old friends. As a very shy person, that’s an unusual occurrence. When we met for the first time, I knew this session would be smooth and turn out to be one of my best.
A couple weeks later, with her husband and beautiful daughter, Lindsey shined amidst the tall trees in her royal blue gown. Could there have been a better color to wear in that forest? Absolutely not. This photo session went longer than usual, but we soaked up every last inch of light shining through those trees. It was wonderful.

Lifestyle sessions are soul-food. Nothing beats a calm, beautiful session in a home environment. It adds so much dimension to the story to be able to snap away at small details, and witness moments like these that will become some of my client’s fondest memories. What do these images tell me? That an already beloved little girl is soon bound to make her grand entrance into this world…. and I can’t wait to meet her.
As the gloomy weather in our area continues, being able to offer in-home lifestyle family sessions means that I can continue providing my clients the beautiful images they want and deserve. As a photographer, that means the world to me. We shouldn’t be bound by weather–there are so many great moments to be discovered in your very own home.

I love the excitement of an impending new arrival. This lovely mama was due for an induction on Monday, February 29th, but woke up to the welcome surprise of her water breaking! Nolan arrived that afternoon as a Leap Year baby!
As a Seattle family photographer, being able to photograph a brand new, tiny person, is perhaps the most rewarding part of my profession. Providing these memories for families is just a small part of the joy that fills me during these sessions. I get to see and hold sweet babies!
Nolan, welcome to this big, crazy world. Your siblings and parents are beyond excited to have you! I feel so blessed to be one of the few people to have met you in the first 24 hours of your life.

Meet Maya. She is my sweet, loving, annoying, yappy, stubborn, and adorable Shiba Inu. She pretty much does her own thing (the stubborn part) and expects non-stop loving attention from us humans. I was never a dog person. In fact, I was far from being a dog person. They smell, they drool, they’re needy. But one lick from this sweet girl was all I needed. The cute fluffy tail wiggle might’ve helped a bit, too. She turns 7 in one week…. makes me realize how little time we have left with her. My life has been forever changed by her furry little face and I cannot image my life without her.
